The Hatim Alavi Memorial Braille Library


This is Pakistan’s first and largest Braille Library. It was gifted by the Alavi family in memory of Mr. Hatim Alavi who was associated with the institution for over 50 years and was its President till 1976.

With over 3000 books in Braille, 800 talking books and more than 5000 cassettes and CDS on a variety of academic and social subjects and is a valuable resource for visually impaired persons who are in search of knowledge and learning. The library is open to the public. In order to provide door to door service, it also runs a weekly mobile library.

The library has been recently refurbished and is now housed in the Ibne-Hasan Burney Resource Center.
